She is survived by her son Desmond Hogan and her daughter-in-law Mindy Holmes of Washington, DC, and her grandchildren Andrew Hogan (of Pittsburgh) and Wesley Martin Hogan and Caitlin Marie Hogan (of DC). She is also survived by a large extended family of six living brothers and sisters, nieces and cousins, and an equally large family on her late-husband's side, including sister-in-law Sister Maria Patris of the Philadelphia area. Rose Marie was a social worker who had a preternatural gift of empathy and a long career dedicated to helping those in need. She graduated as the Salutatorian from Point Park College with a B.A., Magna Cum Laude in Psychology and from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Social Work, Summa Cum Laude. She also earned certification from the Academy of Clinical Social Workers. After graduation, Rose Marie worked for three years for Allegheny County, providing mental health services to the North Hills community. She thereafter opened a private counseling practice, which she maintained for more than twenty-years, providing psychotherapy services to individuals and families. In addition, she worked at Allegheny General Hospital for more than a decade, serving as a bereavement services coordinator in the hospice program and a rehabilitation services coordinator in the homecare program. She also enjoyed mentoring social workers in training, providing professional development guidance to students as an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Social Work. After retirement, Rose Marie remained extremely active for many years. She greatly enjoyed serving on the Advisory Council for the three Spirituality Centers of the Sisters' of Divine Providence. She also volunteered at the LaRoche College Ethics Center, hosting (with Ed) visiting speakers, proof-reading publications, and fostering a student from a war-torn country who attended LaRoche. Rose Marie and Ed lived an incredibly full life together, traveling the world and surrounded by a deep circle of wonderfully caring and generous friends. Rose Marie and Ed enjoyed the culture, arts and other delights of Pittsburgh. They were members of St. John Neumann Parish and Rose Marie served on the St. Sebastian's Ladies of Charity. Rose Marie and Ed were active members of a Renew Group, the members of which learned together, honed their faith, and became life-long friends. Rose Marie also enjoyed a vibrant book club in retirement and regularly got together with a group of women self-named the Ahaas, who shared many laughs and triumphs and a few tears. Rose Marie was a charter member of the Vincentian Villa community that opened nine years ago, where she found dear hearts and gentle people who lived and worked there. There, over the last three years, she had begun to learn to play the piano. Rose Marie's parting wish was that voices of love would be heard, prevailing over the voices of hate, while our country and the world find their way to sustained peace and harmony. ZAMBORSKY GEORGE ANDREW AGE 82...
ZAMBORSKY GEORGE ANDREW Age 82, passed away peacefully in bed in the loving arms of his wife, Rose Mary, and hands of his daughter, Julie, by his side on August 9, 2018. He rode his chairlift for the last time up 19 steep steps to his retirement home in the apartment-over-the garage in Julie's family home in Barrington, NH. Before his heart finally gave out, he spent the day doing what he loved: gardening with his daughter, swimming with his grandchildren, and smiling into his wife's big, blue eyes. He was a great man, husband, father, brother, and son, born on July 17, 1936, in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Helen McHenry, wife of the late Paul McHenry. His sister, Helene, will greet him in Heaven, while his sisters, Mary Ann Lake of Monroeville and Margaret McHenry, Tucson, AZ, will miss their lively conversations and hearty laughs. Retired from the Port Authority and a Navy officer, he leaves behind a family he was proud of. His daughters, Amy, Michelle, and Julie, will always remember stomping the polka and being twirled around by their daddy on Sunday mornings to the Polka Review. All his girls acquired his farming gene and will never forget when Julie unplanted a 50 yard row of onions that Farmer George just planted. The fruit trees and gardens he inspired are a living memorial of him. George loved his grandchildren and spending time together with them. He bonded with Gavin and Grant Bittner over handy-man work and engines, which is attested to the by the 1,000 tools he left them. He loved playing chess with Jeffrey and fishing with Bram and Ian. Madison and Cordelia were the apples of his eye. He loved their baking, taking hikes, and watching movies with them. George had a passion for living, a love of animals, and will be remember by his only swear word, Jiminy Cricket. All who loved him will never forget his undying love and care for them, most especially, his wife, Rose Mary, who was always hand-in-hand with him by his side. A service will be held for him Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel at JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, Curry Hollow Rd.
