KEEHN MARCIA LINDQUIST Marcia Lindquist Keehn of Evanston IL died peacefully on June 20 2018. She was 89 years old. She was a longtime resident of Winnetka IL and was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Silas Keehn. Marcia was born in Tarentum, PA on June 9 1929. She graduated from Tarentum High School, earned a B.A. from Wells College and a Masters in Education from New York University. In 1948 Marcia met the love of her life, Silas Keehn, the brother of her sister's roommate, at the sisters' graduation from Wellesley College. A long distance courtship followed, ultimately leading to their marriage in 1955 while Silas was on shore leave from the US Navy. The early years of their marriage took them from Newport RI to Cambridge MA and ultimately to Pittsburgh PA where they lived for the next 24 years and raised three children. Their years in Pittsburgh were happy ones, highlighted by summers on Nantucket and lots of family nearby. Marcia became an active volunteer in many organizations, including Shadyside Presbyterian Church, Pressley Ridge Family Counseling Center, and the Children's Institute, where she ultimately became Board Chair. In 1981 she and Si resettled in Winnetka, where they lived for most of their remaining years. Marcia volunteered at the The Art Institute of Chicago, youth tutoring in Rogers Park, Kenilworth Garden Club, Kenilworth Union Church and Town and Country Arts Club. She loved gardening, cooking and spending every possible minute with her family and eight grandchildren, whether it was visits to the Chicago Botanic Garden or walks on the beach in Boca Grande FL. In their later years they enjoyed lots of international travel, including visits to London, where they had lived for several years with their young children. She is survived by a sister, Marylou Appel of Canandaigua NY, daughter Libby Keehn Lewis and her husband John of Winnetka, IL, daughter Britta Keehn Scott and her husband Edward of Riverside, CT, and son Peter Keehn and his wife Stephanie of Wilmette, IL; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Glenn Lindquist Jr. A Memorial service celebrating Marcia Keehn's life will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. at Kenilworth Union Church, 211 Kenilworth Avenue, Kenilworth, IL 60043.
