SUMNEY DR. DAVID L. Age 74, of McMurray, peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved father of Ellen Sumney (Jack) Micenko, Peggy Sumney (Dr. Eric) Prosseda, and David L. Sumney; proud grandfather of Olivia Micenko, Caroline Micenko, Dante Prosseda, Julian Prosseda, Roman Prosseda, Luca Prosseda, and Nina Prosseda; caring brother of Larry W. (Rachel) Sumney; treasured uncle of Michael S. Sumney. Dr. Sumney is also survived by his former wife, Margaret A. Sumney. He was born March 10, 1944, in Washington, PA to the late Raymond and Virginia Sumney. Dr. Sumney graduated from Washington and Jefferson College with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, then the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Dental Medicine, and finally the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Periodontology. He owned three practices, one in McMurray, one in Brentwood, and one in Oakland. He was a passionate professor at the University of Pittsburgh and proudly served as Chairman of his department at Allegheny General Hospital. Dr. Sumney had a love for being a Periodontist, love for all cars, and most of all love for his family. Visitation and Service will be private.
