REED JOEL Age 72, of Penn Hills, Pennsylvania, passed Friday, October 30, 2015. Born November 6, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Son of the late Dorothy (Edwards) Hill and the late Joseph Reed; beloved husband of Ernestine (Portis) Reed; father of Shelley Reed-Wallace of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandfather of Savaan and Alex. Joel earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University, Master's of Education and Ph. D. from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a passionate administrator and educator in the Woodland Hills and Pittsburgh Public School Districts and at the University of Pittsburgh. Overall, Joel's career path demonstrated his dedication to the advancement of excellence and diversity in education. Visitation will be held at SPRIGGS & WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 720 N. Lang Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15208 on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, from 4-8 p.m., (412) 243-8080.
