LAPOINTE MARION "MOLLY" Age 86, of Scott Township, died on January 17, 2019, surrounded by her devoted family. Molly was born in Sidman, PA (Johnstown area), November 8, 1932, the tenth of thirteen children and youngest daughter of Evan and Antonia Mary (Opalecky) Yakicic, immigrants of Croatia. In addition to her parents, Molly was preceded in death by siblings, George (Mary), Sally (John Barr), Agnes (Charles Gelles), Anna (Tom Jahoda), Elizabeth (George Vasas), Edward (Katherine), Dorothy (James Wingard), Evan, Evonne, and Robert. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Fred J.; sons, Fred (Susan) (Lebanon, PA), Jeffrey (Pittsburgh); and daughters Diane and Daphne (Pittsburgh); granddaughters, Margaux (Jason Furrer) (Haddon Heights, New Jersey), and Madelon (Lancaster, PA); she is also survived by a sister, Lillian Hinderliter (South Fork, PA); a brother, James (Elizabeth) (Edison, NJ); and sister-in-law, Janet (Robert) (Sidman, PA); as well as many dear nieces and nephews. Molly was a dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend -- an inspiration to all! A proud coal miner's daughter, Molly was an honored graduate of Adams Township High School where, as Valedictorian, she received a full scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, opting to work in Washington, DC as an executive secretary instead, to provide support for her widowed mother. Molly's profound love of Jesus, coupled with her sel?essness and humility, genuine love of others, tremendous joy, strong advocacy of peace and justice, and deep, indomitable faith, made her irresistible to those around her! An incredibly balanced and loving individual, Molly loved being a wife and mother and was the ultimate homemaker. No matter what she did, she poured love into it and gave it her all
cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing, guiding, teaching, listening, encouraging, helping, and hugging. For 15 years, Molly shared her deep Catholic faith with young minds and souls as a faith formation teacher at SS Simon and Jude Church, her treasured parish of 53 years. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Terence Philbin and staff, Dr. Tatum Tarin and staff, Fr. Richard Jones, the many doctors, nurses, medical staff, priests and clergy at Mercy Hospital, as well as many dear friends, relatives and parishioners. Friends received Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the SZAFRANSKI- EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 101 Third Street, Carnegie. Mass of Christian Burial in SS Simon and Jude Church on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
