WEAVER FRANCES “JEAN” OF UPPER...

WEAVER FRANCES “JEAN” Of Upper St. Clair, died peacefully on November 1, 2015, at the age of 90, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Born and raised in Brentwood and graduated from Brentwood High School, Dr. Weaver received B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Penn State University. She worked for many years as a nutritionist in Massachusetts and New York State and abroad in Malawi, and taught at the University of Pittsburgh. She finished her career well into her 70s with the Peace Corps in Senegal. Deeply committed to social justice, and to women's rights through the National Organization of Women, she was also active with the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation and the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania. She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick J. and Vera (Kovar) Weaver; her siblings, Anne (Weaver) Booske, Frederick J. Weaver, Jr., and William T. Weaver; and brother-in-law, Henry Booske. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Rose Weaver of Glenshaw; and by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews and their children. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. December 19, 2015, at Unitarian Universalist Church of the South Hills, 1240 Washington Rd., Mt. Lebanon, PA 15228.
