
RODIS HARRY GEORGE Of Longwood, Florida, died Monday, January 11, 2016, after a brief illness. Mr. Rodis was born May 6, 1927, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late George Harry Rodis and the late Maria (Papasoteriou) Rodis. On June 18, 1954, he married Lois Virginia Moorcroft in Fairbanks, Alaska. The couple made their home in many places throughout Mr. Rodis' career with the U.S. Geological Survey, finally settling in Seminole County, Longwood, Florida in 1975. He retired in 1989, and served his community by volunteering at Wekiva Springs State Park, Orlando Science Center and Sweetwater Oaks Home Owners Ascociation. A devoted and beloved husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Rodis enjoyed travelling and was an accomplished amateur photographer. He is survived by his wife, Lois of Longwood, Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Ernest Mandros of Pittsburgh; daughter, Sandra Rodis of Lutz, Florida; son and daughter-in-law, George and Leah Rodis of Alexandria, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Daryl Roberson of Altamonte Springs, Florida; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Wade Peterson of Wesley Chapel, Florida; grandchildren, Zachary and Cory Rodis, Michael Webb, and Jacob and Hannah Peterson; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Rodis will be laid to rest in the Florida National Cemetery Columbarium, Bushnell, Florida. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wekiva Wilderness Trust. Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb
