ROBINSON NANCY CAROL PITTS Nancy Carol Pitts Robinson was born November 13, 1939, the only child of Beulah L. Miller and Ada Miller in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Peabody High School in 1957. She moved to New York City where she began her extensive career in the music industry with RCA Records. She later moved to Oakland, California where she partnered with Harvey Fuqua to start Honey Records. In the early '80s, Nancy settled in Los Angeles, California where she worked as a senior production manager and A&R representative in the R&B divisions of Epic Records, A&M Records, Capitol Records, Total Experience, and Solar Records. She promoted gold and platinum artists including The Whispers, The Deele with L.A. Reid and Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, Shalamar, Midnight Star, Reggie Calloway, Klymaxx, Lakeside, Luther Vandross, Sylvester/Two Tons O' Fun, The Gap Band, and Vesta Williams. She also worked with Mario Van Peebles on the soundtrack for the film "Posse". Her passion for fashion and organizing special events enabled her to work as a wardrobe stylist and personal assistant. Nancy was previously married to Gregory Pitts. In 2013, Nancy married Flynn Robinson who had played for the Los Angeles Lakers. Shortly thereafter, Flynn lost his battle with cancer. Nancy had no biologic sons or daughters but nurtured many children. She is cherished, remembered and mourned by a host of family and friends. A memorial service will be held in Homewood Cemetery on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at noon. Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb
