KOHUT WALTER VLADIMIR The Leader of the Band, Walter Vladimir Kohut, entered heaven on the morning of February 19, 2016. He was born on February 14, 1924, to Anna and John Kohut. Walter was the youngest of five children and was raised on 16th Street in the Southside of Pittsburgh, PA. Music was always an important part of Walter's life. During his young adult years, you could find Walter playing drums with his quartet or leading his Big Band known as Wally King's Orchestra. It was while playing drums at a wedding that he met Dorothy Kiefer. That night he said, "I'm going to marry her." and he did on February 27, 1946. Together they purchased a home in Carnegie, PA, where they raised their three daughters, Barbara, Susan and Donna. Luckily, his business, Kohut Dental Laboratory, was also in their home, so the family was always together. Despite many long hours providing for his family, they had many, happy years vacationing in their home at Geneva-on-the-Lake where swimming and family time was key. Walter's motto was "Whatever happens, happens for the best!" No matter where he was, or his circumstances in life, he was always positive and the life of the party. He was a true inspiration for his entire family and many friends. Walter is survived by his daughters, Barbara (John) Wooden of North Canton, Ohio, Susan (Ronald) ReBell of Susanville, CA, and Donna (Mark) Galbraith of Imperial, PA. Walter was blessed with six grandchildren, Todd Wooden, Sherri Wooden Gandolph, Neil ReBell, Lindsey ReBell, Dustin Medvid and Michael Guido. His grandchildren continued to bless him through the years with ten great-grandchildren, Hanna, Brandon, Payton, Zachery, Avery, Jackson, Marley, Madison, Michala and Haylie. In addition to his immediate family, Walter is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Kiefer Kohut, of 65 years; his parents, Anna and John Kohut; and his siblings, Mary Kohut, Joseph Kohut, Rosella Hochendoner, and Pauline Kohut, all who greeted him upon his arrival in heaven. Friends received at the BAGNATO FUNERAL HOME, Jefferson St., Carnegie Thursday 5-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Friday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church at 10 a.m., with interment to follow in Holy Soul's Catholic Cemetery in Robinson Township. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Dorothy Kohut, his beloved wife. Add a tribute at: bagnatofuneralhome.com Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb
