
SUMMA FREDERICK W., Jr. Age 93, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed peacefully on August 25, 2015. Fred is survived by Patricia S. Summa, his beloved wife of 67 years; his children, Fred III and Wendy Summa of Venice, FL, Sheryl and Tim Reitmeyer of Pittsburgh, Scott Summa of Tampa, FL and Stacey Summa Hurbanek of Cranberry Township; his grandchildren, Jamey Summa and Alex Huppenthal, Morgan Summa, Erik Summa, Taylor Reitmeyer and Morgan Black, Kevin and Jennifer Reitmeyer, and Paige Hurbanek; and his great-grandson, Zachary Reitmeyer. Fred was born on February 28, 1922, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Frederick William Summa and Anna Ward Summa. He was the brother of William J. Summa, of Guilford, CT and the late Mary Summa and Anne Meyers. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Marilyn Saunders of Pittsburgh, and many loving nieces and nephews. Fred graduated in 1940 from Oliver High School and studied engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. He enlisted and served in the US Army Air Force. Fred married his lifelong love, Patricia in 1948. They enjoyed raising their children in Whitehall Borough, where they were active members of Saint Elizabeth Parish. Fred worked as an engineer before fulfilling a dream by becoming one of the founding partners of Delta Design Engineers and Consultants. He served as Executive Vice President until his retirement in 1985. Fred and Patricia moved to Naples, FL to enjoy their retirement years, and they certainly found their paradise. Along with the sunshine and beautiful beaches, Fred enjoyed being active in the community, making great friends, gardening, traveling, and volunteering at Saint William's Parish. Fred was an upbeat and positive person who had a great sense of humor and was known by his family and friends for his gregarious and engaging personality. Fred was a caring and positive force in the lives of all those around him. He was a kind and loving husband and father, and his family was always his first priority. Fred loved sports, especially his Pittsburgh teams, and baseball in particular. He loved music, and had a great singing voice, with Sinatra being his all-time favorite. Along with his deep faith, Fred's generous spirit and positive attitude was ever-present.
