WHEELER LaVERNE Of North Oakland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2015. The fifth child of seven children of the late Robert and Lillian Green. A graduate of Fifth Avenue High School and the University of Pittsburgh. Beloved wife of Cornelius Wheeler and mother of one daughter, Stacey, who preceded her in death. After working many years for the Human Relations Commission she became the executive director for the City of Pittsburgh and was employed with the University of Pittsburgh in the Human Resources Department. Lovingly survived by her husband, Cornelius; two sisters, Laurel Johnson, Edna Kisner; and extended family and friends. Visitation WEST FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2215 Wylie Ave., Wednesday 10-11 a.m. only.
