
SWEENEY VINCENT D. Age 75, of State College, PA, died at his residence, Tuesday, September 1, 2015, of an apparent heart attack. He was born July 22, 1940, in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Vincent D. Sweeney and Helen F. O'Donnell. He married Dorothy J. Donauer on July 25, 1970. He graduated from Saint Vincent's Prep School in Latrobe, PA, and Notre Dame University, with a bachelor's in philosophy. He served five years in the Marines, including Vietnam, attaining the rank of Captain. His career included public relations for the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo, the University of Maryland at College Park, and the State University of New York at Albany. He enjoyed reading, opera, pool, NY Times crosswords, and walking. He once said that one of the best things in life is simply taking walks with loved ones. He is survived by his sisters, Alice Day O'Shea, of Taunton, MA, Patricia Burke of Falls Church, VA, and Mary Flood, of Rockville, MD; and his two sons, Aaron D. Sweeney of Boulder, CO, and Sean M. Sweeney of Schenectady, NY. A private celebration of his life will be held.
