JAMES P. WALSH, SR. Of Morningside on Sunday, April 26, 2020, age 84. Beloved husband of Mary Ann; proud father of Mary Beth Weeks (Eric), James, Jr. (Fran), and Patrick (Kate); grandfather of Ally, Brooke and Eric Weeks, Samantha and Maria Wilkinson, and Mary Claire, Michael, and Charlie Walsh; son of the late Michael and Agnes Walsh; brother of Martin, Joe, Betty Bochneak and the late Mary, Tom, Charles, Paul, Eugene and John; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jim was the proud owner of Walsh's Bar and Restaurant for 46 years. He also enjoyed playing golf, coaching and watching sports. Jim was loved by many. JACK H. "JACKIE" WARE, JR. Age 53, of Pittsburgh, PA passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 23, 2020. He was born on August 30, 1966. The beloved son of Jack H. Ware and Joan V. (Rollerwicz) Ware. Jack was educated in the Pittsburgh Public school system. He held jobs with the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. MARGARET PEGGY (STEWART) BUTCHER Age 80, of Mount Washington, PA, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Esther (Stubkjaer) Stewart and William Stewart. She is survived by her two sons, Mark Butcher of the West End, PA and Michael Butcher of Pittsburgh, PA; as well as her daughter-in-law, Marie Morgan and her two granddaughters, Maggie Butcher and Katie Butcher of Green Tree, PA, whom she considered her two angels. Peggy was born on December 28, 1939 in Madison, Wisconsin. She was a 1958 graduate of Crafton High School, Crafton, PA and a 1962 graduate of Allegheny College with degrees in both Psychology and English. Peggy had a love for writing that was exemplified in many different facets during her outstanding career. She retired after more than 25 years as the Publisher/Managing Editor of The Green Tree Times, where she consistently focused on positive and uplifting news to pass on to her readers. Peggy was greatly involved in numerous activities and various organizations, such as Animal Advocates, to enhance and better her community. She fervently strived to find the good in others and had a lasting, positive effect on everyone she met. Peggy was routinely willing to give helpful advice and was a great listener. She was an avid reader with eclectic tastes and enjoyed spending time with a good book and her two loving cats. Peggy will be greatly missed by her family and countless friends, including those she cherished, loved, and considered family for 50 years from the Chatham Village community. Her compassionate spirit will be dearly missed. Due to circumstances surrounding the current pandemic, a celebration of Peggy's life with family and friends will be held at a later time, yet to be determined by the family. SHIRLEY JUNE (STOCK) PRUSS Shirley passed peacefully on April 24, 2020; she was a few months shy of her 90th birthday. Shirley lived a long and full life, much of it alongside her late husband, John; her sister, Cynthia; and brother, John. She also had four sons, Michael (Donna), Kenneth (Camy), Thomas (Barb) and William (Jody). She had seven grandchildren, Sara, Brandon, Nathan, Heather, Analise, Jory and Ainsley; along with eight great-grandchildren. Shirley was a devout Catholic and for many years was active in her church community. She worked for most of her career at Woodville State Hospital retiring there as a supervisor in their kitchen. She had numerous relatives and friends she always considered her family and enjoyed spending time with all of them. Shirley loved to cook and many people over the years enjoyed her dinners but especially her perogies and nut rolls. She loved spending time on her front porch talking with friends, family and neighbors. Other things she enjoyed doing were to follow her favorite Pittsburgh sports teams: the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. Shirley was smart, kind, funny and tough as nails and will be dearly missed by all. The family would also like to recognize the care, love and friendship she received over the past months while at ManorCare Health Services in Peters Twp. JOHN E. PERRY John E. Perry, of Ross Twp. (formerly of Dunedin, Florida), went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 23, 2020. He was born August 11, 1946, in Bradford, PA. He was the beloved husband of MaryLee, his best friend and the love of his life, for 29 years. John is survived by his mother, Ella Jones of Crescent City, Florida, 10 children and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins. THOMAS PAUL NOWALK Age 88, formerly of Greensburg, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020, with his devoted children around him in body and in spirit. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lourdes Woehl Nowalk. He was the son of Joseph and Catherine Healy Nowalk; and brother of Mary Kathleen Till and Francis Nowalk. His surviving family also includes his seven children and their families: Isabelle (Martin) Moldovan, Samuel, Nathaniel and Jesse; Thomas (Xiao Hong), Sarah Meng Yi and Teresa Tian Yi; Catherine (James) Shea, Daniel, Thomas and Jack; Mary (Charles) Mayhew; Patricia (Gregg) Mokrzycki, Haile, Finn and August; Andrew (Amy Brinkos), Max, James and Peter; and Joseph (Nancy), Anna, Mac, Laura and Casey. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. Born February 6, 1932, in Pittsburgh, PA, Tom attended Carrick High School and St. Basil Church. He earned a full scholarship to Georgetown University in Washington, DC, where he earned his Bachelor of Science cum laude in 1953. He served two years in the United States Army from 1955-1957 and in the Army Reserves until 1963. Tom worked as a semiconductor engineer for Westinghouse Electric Corporation and its subsidiaries for 40 years. His work led to involvement in 11 patents and numerous technologies which advanced the field of power semiconductor and microchip technology. Tom married the love of his life, Lourdes, in 1960. They celebrated 57 years of loving marriage before her passing in 2017. He was known throughout his work and parish community as a man of faith and kindness, and goodwill towards all. His greatest accomplishment was providing a warm and loving home for his family and many friends. He drew tremendous strength and inspiration from his Roman Catholic faith, which he shared with all through his generous spirit, kind words, and devotion to his community. His greatest joy was found in celebrations in his home with his family, the bigger the better. In his work and home life, to know him was to love him. When dementia took his memory, his kindness and good humor remained, and his songs and spirit brightened the lives of staff and residents at Sunrise Senior Living in Upper St. Clair and Prime Time Adult Care in Bethel Park over the last few years. The family thanks both centers for their devoted care of our dear father. Due to the current need for safety, visitation, Mass of Christian Burial and interment will be private. EUGENE COSTA Age 85, passed away at home surrounded by his blessed family on Sunday, April 26, 2020, of Whitehall. Gene dedicated his life to his wife and family. THOMAS DOUGLAS SUTTER Age 99 of Baldwin, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020, beloved husband of Irene Graham Sutter. Also survived by brother, Richard (Helen) Sutter of Sarasota; daughters, Barbara Bardo of South Park, Diane (Alexandra) Sutter of Worcester, MA, Mary (Doug) Beck of Coraopolis, PA; sons, Mark (Aileen) Sutter of Chapel Hill, NC, Tim (Michelle) Graham of Pittsburgh, PA, and Eric (Laurie) Graham of Austin, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Charlotte Graham, Stanley Graham, Zac Graham, Prescott Sutter, Weston Sutter, Andrew Beck, Amanda Sutter, Elizabeth Beck, Zoe Graham, Adam Sutter, and Aiden Beck; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Krieger; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents, Thomas and Mary Sutter; brother, William sisters, Margaret and Jeanne; and late wife, Florence (Dolly) Sutter. A veteran of WWII, he served in the Army Air Corps. Later, he had a distinguished career with the Bettis Atomic Power Plant as an engineer, author of manuals for the operation of nuclear submarines, and teacher of naval submarine crews. In service to his community, Mr. Sutter was a board member of the St. Peter's Child Development Center and a past president of Brentwood-Whitehall Kiwanis. He was an avid bird watcher and nature lover and could often be found on his screened-in porch, enjoying the gifts of the natural world. He also was a world traveler with his wife Irene, avid theater goer, reader, gardener, and wood worker. Many family and friends have been gifted by his bird houses and feeders. Tom Sutter was a kind, gentle soul who was the best role model on how to live one's life with joy and compassion. His motto was "Lucky Me!" but we, his family and friends, were the lucky ones to have his presence in our lives. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Recently retired, he finished a distinguished blue-collar career spanning over 40 years for Allegheny County and Pittsburgh International Airport. JB always met you with an open hand and left you with a great story. A confirmed bibliophile he was never without a book, magazine or newspaper to read. He was an enthusiastic collector of military memorabilia, a radical fan of Rock and Roll and an expert in civilian aviation. He will be missed by his many friends and fans. JUDY ANN (DAVIS) FALCE On Friday, April 24, 2020, Judy Ann (Davis) Falce passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Survived by her husband, Dr. William Falce, Jr. and children, Billy Ray (Heather and daughter Maya) Falce and Cortney McLean Falce (David) Williams. Preceded in death by her parents, Ray D. and Dolores (McShane) Davis. Judy was a caring, creative, intelligent, and vivacious woman. She treated everyone she met as a friend. Judy had an infectious smile and radiated a love of life. Judy was a woman whose style and manner embodied the grace of earlier times, and she often took the time to send hand-written notes to those who were in her thoughts. A graduate of Duff's Business School, Judy's early professional experience included working as a secretary at the Pittsburgh City Morgue. After moving to Bethel Park, Judy impacted the community in many ways. When she was employed by the Bethel Park Recreation Department in the 1970's and early 1980's, Judy helped to create numerous arts and athletic programs, as well as the daycare program. As a proud wife, she enjoyed assisting her husband with his Bethel Park Track and Cross-Country meets and banquets. As a Bethel Park parent, she was a member of the committee that started the Independence Middle School Teen Center. Judy and Bill owned Heather's Flowers in Bethel Park from 1984-1998. Judy took pride in designing innovative and dynamic floral creations that were a part of many special moments in her customer's lives. Among the many committees and organizations in which she participated as a business owner, Judy proudly served as a member of the Bethel Park Community Foundation and was the President of the South Hills Chamber of Commerce. After selling the flower shop, Judy continued to share her floral talent with family and friends. From 1998-2010, Judy was proud to work for Beinhauer Family Funeral Homes. In particular, as the Public Relations Professional and After Care Coordinator, Judy felt honored to offer her assistance to grieving families. During 2012-2019, Judy was a creative force and inspiration behind the Bethel Park High School Fall Plays. MARY ELIZABETH (GARRITY) KUBUS Age 85, of Scott Twp., passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. Beloved wife of 63 years to Frank J. Kubus, Sr.; loving mother of Frank J. (Mary Lou) Kubus, Jr., Thomas (Debi) Kubus and James (Linda) Kubus; cherished Grandma Mary to Francis, III (Tracey), Abby Rose, Katelyn, Thomas, Daniel and Stephanie Kubus; loving great-Grandma Mary of Adelaide Elizabeth Kubus; beloved sister of Gemma (Lee) Lundberg, Sr. Gemma de la Passione L.S.P., Ruth (the late Dennis) Mangan and the late Helen Mae Garrity and Honora (George) Sturak; dear friend of Norma Munro and Fr. Robert George; also survived by many nephews. Mary was a 1952 graduate of South Hills High School and a 1955 graduate of the South Side Hospital School of Nursing. She was a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Grace Church and a volunteer at the Little Sisters of the Poor. Mary was a breast cancer survivor and belonged to “Glue Girls” and was a den mother of Pact #189. Memorials may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Ave., Pgh, PA 15212.
