In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her five children, John Merrill Hicks in 2013; and her second husband, Frank Galdes in 2017. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Patrick Hicks; and three brothers, James, Charles, and Thomas Devlin. Mary was a self-employed Certified Public Accountant and was also a member of Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville. For 41 years until her passing, she was a friend of Bill W., where she made a tremendous impact on others' recovery from alcoholism. She attended St. Thomas High School, Braddock, PA, and graduated with her Masters from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA. She is survived by her children, John M. Hicks of Pittsburgh, Mary Martha Hicks of Murrysville, James Thomas Hicks of New York, and Joseph Gregory Hicks of Seattle; Mary is also survived by four grandchildren, Mark James Hicks, Shane Matthew Hicks, Casey Lee Hicks, and Etienne Cassidy Hicks; a great-granddaughter, LiliAnna Rose Hicks; and a brother, Peter J. BANKS DAVID GARDNER Age 93, of Shenango Presbyterian Senior Care in New Wilmington, PA, passed away at his residence on Monday, May 21, 2018. He was born on May 17, 1925 in the Bronx, NY to David Guild Banks and Carrie Gardner Banks. David graduated from Mamaroneck High School, Mamaroneck, NY in 1942 and later Cornell University in 1946. He married Martha May Bright on July 1, 1948 and she preceded him in death on February 7, 2015. David worked as a Chemical Patent Researcher and retired from Gulf Research and Development located at Harmarville, PA in 1983. He was a member of the New Wilmington Presbyterian Church, the New Wilmington Kiwanis Club and a lifetime member of the American Chemical Society. Survivors include his son, David Gilmore Banks and wife, Roberta Lynn of New Wilmington; three grandchildren, Carrie Jane Banks, Roberta Lynn Edge and husband, Dan and David Gordon Banks; six great-grandchildren, Cecilia and Silas Sweeney and Elliott, Evie Everett, and Ellis Edge. Kitty worked as a bookkeeper for AJ Silberman & Co. for over 20 years. She enjoyed taking trips to Wildwood, NJ with family and friends. BRADY HELEN MIRIAM Age 86, of Pittsburgh, died with family surrounding her on May 22, 2018, at Little Sisters of the Poor Care Facility. Born on May 12, 1932, in Williamsport, PA, daughter of the late Paul and Helen Quigley. Helen was a dedicated nurse for many years with an early career in Philadelphia, PA. She also enjoyed time as an airline attendant where she began a lifelong habit of serving others. Throughout her life, Helen was known by all for her love and generosity to the old, the sick, the infirmed and the wayward. As a faithful and loyal servant to the Catholic Church, she ended her life's volunteer vocation as a minister of communion at Little Sisters of the Poor, where she also resided. Helen's most exceptional vocation was the dedication she showed to her husband of 56 years, and her five children. She enjoyed playing bridge, trips to the casinos, and trips to the beach. She was an avid golfer and sports fanatic. Helen will be greatly missed by her beloved family and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John T. Jack Brady who died in 2013. She is survived by her children, Patricia Rodella, Janice (Dwayne) Apple, Cornelius (Stacy) Brady, Michael (Jo Anne) Brady, and Lisa (Christopher) Rickert; her sister, Janice Overdorf of Williamsport, PA; sister-in-law, Bernice Brady; cousin Paul Kane; nieces and nephews, 14 grandchildren, six great- grandchildren, and scores of friends. He was a devoted husband, father and brother. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sykesville, MD.
