AUSTIN EDWARD MICHAEL, M.D. Dr. Edward Austin of Mt. Lebanon died peacefully October 6, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in 1936 in Brattleboro, VT. A lifetime of reading, studying and learning ensued. He graduated from the University of Vermont School of Medicine in 1962. After serving as a second lieutenant in the US Navy Medical Corps he went on to do a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY. He began his private practice in Hyannis, MA in 1968 before moving to Pittsburgh in 1972, where he was a respected physician for 46 years. Dr. Austin was a kind man, an attentive husband, a loving father and grandfather and an exceptional friend. He served on the board of the Mt. Lebanon Public Library during its expansion and renovation and in recent years audited many classes at the University of Pittsburgh. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan Schein Austin; and his two sons Christopher and wife Paige Austin of Louisville CO, Robert and wife Jennifer of Apex NC; and his beloved grandgirls, Macey, Mallory, Maggie, and Elizabeth; also surviving are brothers, James Austin of Burlington, VT and Paul Austin of Essex Junction, VT as well as his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother David of Rutland, VT and Stephan of Topsham, ME. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUER, 2828 Washington Rd., McMurray, 724-941-3211. LEVY LOIS G. On Saturday, October 6, 2018. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Lois was thrilled to call the city her home almost her entire life. Lois attended Carnegie Institute of Technology as a psychology major, and when not in school, she worked at her family's downtown business, American Wholesale. While attending college, she met the extraordinary love of her life, Dr. Marshall S. Levy, who was a senior in medical school at the University of Pittsburgh. After graduation, Lois and Marshall married, had three amazing children, Carol Levy (Joel Goron), Steven Levy and Louise Levy (Jay Shuster); and later she became a grandmother to eight wonderful grandchildren, Chloe, Camryn, Chace, identical twins Cassidy and Carly (born in 2017), David, Bradley and Sammy; sister of Charles Galtz; sister-in-law of Dr. Stanley Levy. Lois always loved helping others and contributing to her community. Through her organizational work, Lois dedicated herself to exceptional causes including The Allegheny County Medical Society, Hadassah, United Jewish Federation, ORT, The Jewish National Fund, The Ladies' Hospital Aid Society, Brandesis University and many more. A true believer in the power of giving and doing, Lois enjoyed inspiring and helping others to learn, earn and celebrate life -- physically, intellectually and emotionally. Lois recently was awarded The Thompson Award from the Allegheny County Medical Society Alliance. She also won awards from the United Jewish Federation in various years for Volunteer of the Year for her service and devotion to the Jewish Community as well as Technion - The American Society for Technion for her dedication to the Jewish Community. Lois will always be deeply loved and deeply missed. She went to school in the Fox Chapel Area School District. Dawn loved animals and went on to receive a specialized Associate degree in veterinary technology from the Western School. JULIAN LILLIAN J. Age 94, of Upper St. Clair, passed away peacefully in the arms of her son, Ron, on Saturday, October 6, 2018. Born and raised in San Francisco, CA, Lil met the love of her life, the late Arlow L. Julian, Jr. while working at the Dept. of the Interior after WWII. An accomplished bowler, gourmet cook and bridge player, Lil also enjoyed making ceramics for friends and family. Lillian was President of the Mt. Lebanon Coterie Club (1967-68) and also served on the Upper St. Clair Recreation Board for several years in the mid 1970s. A member of Center Presbyterian Church, she enjoyed her Circle group and teaching Barefoot Bible School. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing basketball, baseball and other outdoor sports. Other than giving birth, Lil never spent a night in the hospital. She is survived by her five children, Lillian (Nick) Atria, Susan (Fran) Frear, Arlow (Pat) Julian, Ron Julian (Rich Vinski), and Melissa Greguric; 12 grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren; also survived by siblings Tony Garcia and Alice Trombino of the Bay Area. Ron and Rich would like to thank the AHN hospice team for the excellent care and compassion shown to Lillian. A special thanks to nurse Kayla Rothrauff who kept Lil comfortable and happy in her final weeks. Per Lillian's wishes there will be no viewing. WEIBLE RAYMOND JOSEPH Age 81, of Plum. Born on September 26, 1937 and died on Sunday, October 7, 2018. Beloved husband for 58 years of Ruthann (Colcombe) Weible; loving father of Deborah A. Weible and Diane M. (Timothy) Trozzo; son of the late Thomas A. and Ella Marie Weible; brother of Mary Ann (late Jack) Dorsey, Victor (Sandra) Weible, Eleanor Emanuele, Nancy (late Duane) Kuhns, John Weible and the late Francis Weible, Esther (Rudy) Macchioni and Anita (James) LiVolsi; also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and greatnephews. Raymond, or "Joe" as his family called him, served proudly in the US Navy on the USS Albany during the Korean Conflict and was the owner of Weible Electric Company for over 20 years. He was a lifelong aviation enthusiast and an avid pilot who held licenses as a private pilot (with instrument ratings) and certified flight instructor. He owned and flew a Cessna 140, Seneca Twin Engine, Hughs Helicopter and MiG15 jet. He was also the volunteer manager of the Monroeville Airport for over 30 years. Sister of the late Laird (Scheidemantel) Kaufman and Herschel Kaufman; daughter of the late Irene (Emmert) and Norman Scheidemantel; Norma is survived by Lois Cale and Diane Danko, both of West Mifflin; along with several other cousins. Norma was a graduate of Edinboro University, a retired art and elementary school teacher in the West Mifflin School District, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of McKeesport Presbyterian Church. Victoria is the beloved wife of the late Andrew C. Cancalosi; and loving mother of Susan (Gary) Conte, Dianne (Steve) Said, and Andrew (Renee) Cancalosi; she is predeceased by eight brothers and sisters; she is the dear grandmother of Tessa, Natalia, Amanda, Brian, Jaden, Charles and Beverly. Victoria was a US Navy Reserve Veteran, serving with WAVES and was recently a resident of Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community where she made wonderful friends. Beloved husband of Eileen (Vargo) Tronsberg for 56 years; loving father of Kathryn (Frank) Tronsberg Macciocca, Kenneth G. Beloved husband of Norma (McNeice) Dawn; loving father of Lisa (Laura Hernandez) Dawn, Lynn (Ken) Sabolovic, Laurie (Domenico) Borriello, and the late Raymond (surviving wife, Rebecca) Dawn, Jr.; cherished grandfather of Angelena, James, Anthony, Domenic, and Sofia Borriello, and Justin, Nicholas, and Kayleigh Sabolovic; also survived by many nieces and nephews; he was also preceded in death by his parents, Alvin B. and Mary Dawn; brother, William Dawn; and aunt, Anna Basista. Raymond worked as a machinist for Miller Printing Machinery Company on the Northside, and later went on to dedicate his time as a driver for First Transit for over 20 years. GIDA ARLENE M. (VALIQUETTE) Age 87, of North Versailles, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018. Daughter of the late William H. and Elizabeth (Foster) Valiquette; wife of the late Theodore P. Gida, Sr.; mother of Theodore P. (Helen) Gida, Jr., the late David A. Gida, Susan (Tim) Ference, Wayne (Amy) Gida, and Jan W. "Chip" Gida (Lin Johnson); grandmother of Tammi L. Gida, Theodore P. (Kim) Gida III, Justin D. (Chrissy) Gida, Lucas M. Gida, Timothy "T.J." Ference, Robyn L. Ference, Lacey M. (Joel) Schurtz, Kaitlyn R. Gida, Benjamin W. Gida; also seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sister of Gloria Schell and the late Jack and William Valiquette; also several nieces and nephews. Her family was the most important part of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother dedicated to caring for them.
