BESONG DAVID ALLEN "DADO" Age 65, of McKees Rocks, gave so much of himself to others until there was no more to give. Dado lost his battle with cancer on February 25, 2019 and has joined his mother and loved ones in heaven. He is now free of pain and driving his Corvette on country roads. He was born October 1, 1953 in Sewickley, PA to the late William E. and Viola (Sharf) Besong. He was one of ten children, attended Quaker Valley Schools and resided in McKees Rocks. He was a salvage yard operator for Trapp and Webb Salvage Yard, McKees Rocks. He served on the Calvert until it went out of commission. The Calvert received many awards and Decorations including the Navy Unit Commendation, WWII Victory Medal, The Philippines Liberation Medal with two stars and Korean Service Medal with two stars. During his Navy career, he volunteered as a sea diver. His devotion to the military extended to nearly consistent attendance at the USS Calvert reunions and greater than 25 years of volunteering at the VA ceramics department. He collected thousands of dollars for the VA by collecting aluminum cans for more than 25 years. His life of service included, volunteering with St. Michael's Church and Passion Play, St. Paul of the Cross Monestary and by helping everyone he encountered. Ed was a proud veteran of WW II, during which time he served in the Army Air Corps. He was a test pilot of the P 40, and eventually ?ew gliders over enemy lines in Europe. He was very supportive of veterans, and spent many of his retirement years volunteering at the local VA. He was retired from Kennywood Park, where for many years, he happily was the VP of sales. He was one of the original organizers of the South Fayette School District Food and Gift Drive. He loved the traditions created by family, and would do anything for family at anytime. He was a Supervisor and Equipment Operator for Univar- Weavertown Environmental, Cecil Twp. and previously operated J&S Excavating. He was a master and mechanic of heavy equipment. DAVIS GENEVIEVE (VANCE) Quietly on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, Genevieve Vance Davis of North Braddock and Emlenton passed into life eternal. She was born in North Braddock on Monday, New Year's Eve, December 31, 1934. She is survived by her children, Matthew Allan (Judy Ann) Davis, Sr., of Cowansville, Barbara (Paul) Osborne of Providence Rhode Island, Norm Davis of North Braddock, Joan (late Ray) Aiello of Forest Hills, Charles (Myra) David of West Mif?in, and Richard (Kashina) Davis of North Huntingdon; 12 grandchildren; six great- grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, John of North Huntingdon, Louise (late Morris) Fertell of Anancock,Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Agnes Hovanec Vance; and her late husband, Charles Harley Charley Davis. He died on May 25, 2015, her son, John (1960); a grandson, Matt Davis (2009); a granddaughter, Christine Davis (2018); and her siblings, John, George and Christine Vance. Calling hours with the family will be on Thursday, February 28, 2019, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., in the SCHLEIFER FUNERAL CHAPEL, INC., (412-271-1361) 534 Jones Avenue, North Braddock. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Emlenton on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Big Bend Cemetery, Emlenton.
