GADDESS VIVIAN FRANCIS Age 102, a resident of Lombard, IL, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington, Illinois. She was born September 9, 1913, in Clairton, PA to Charles B. and Mary H. Francis. She was raised in Brookline, PA and was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where she met Gene Gaddess, of Oil City, PA. They were married on June 29, 1935. Gene's career as a petroleum geologist took them to southern Illinois, Bismarck, ND and Denver, CO where she raised their two sons. After Gene's death in 1979, and her son Lou's death in 1982, she moved back to Pittsburgh where she still had family. In 2011, she moved to Lombard to be near to her son, Terry and his wife, Judy. She was a lively lady who lived up to her name, Vivian. She enjoyed playing bridge and being around people. She kept her love of the French language throughout her life. She was always a very proper lady, who dressed for the occasion. She is survived by her son, Terry (Judy) Gaddess of Wheaton; five grandchildren, Patricia (Carey) Hughes, Carrie Mudge, Deborah Gaddess, John (Maia) Gaddess and Christopher Gaddess; and 16 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; son, Louis; sisters, Jean and Ruth; and her brother, Charles Francis, Jr. Interment will be held in Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, CO. Memorial gifts may be directed to Wounded Warriors. Family and friends may sign a guest book at hultgrenfh.com. For more information, please call HULTGREN FUNERAL HOME at 630-668-0027.
