WALKER CAROLYN Carolyn Walker was born on May 18, 1945, in Newport, Tennessee. She was the fifth child of eight born to John and Pauline Stokely, both of whom preceded her in death. Carolyn departed this life on January 4, 2016, in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. During her high school years, Carolyn spent two summers working as a nanny in Springfield, Massachusetts. After graduating from Tanner High School in Newport, Tennessee, Carolyn attended East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. Carolyn settled in Pittsburgh in 1967, where she embarked upon a 31 year career as an employee of Westinghouse PCD/Emerson. Carolyn was united in marriage to her love, Winston Walker in April of 1983, where they enjoyed traveling the world - especially the Caribbean Islands. During her lifetime, Carolyn was a lover of sand and sun, taking yearly beach trips and visiting family all over the country. Carolyn enjoyed games of chance and was a frequent winner. In addition, Carolyn enjoyed volunteering at the Garden City Methodist Church food bank. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, William Stokely, Hattie Stokely Woods, and Evelyn Stokely. Carolyn leaves to mourn her death her beloved husband, Winston Walker of 33 years; her loving daughter, Melissa D. Stokely; and her cherished grandson, Jabril Darr with whom she shared a special bond. Also surviving are her siblings, Dee (George) Ruby, David (Carolyn) Stokely, Ella Stokely and Dennis (Alger) Stokely; her brother-in-law, Kenneth (Karen) Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the GENE H. CORL, INC. FUNERAL CHAPEL AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike (412-372-2100). Funeral service will be held on Saturday 10:30 a.m. at the Garden City United Methodist Church. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment following in Homewood Cemetery.
