CARD MICHAEL Age 66, of Aliquippa, died April 18, 2017, in his home following a brief illness. Born February 6, 1951, in Houston, Texas, he was a son of the late Chief Master Sgt. A.J. and Stephanie Card. Michael was a “military brat” who grew up around the world. In high school, he excelled in sports, earning 12 letters in football, wrestling, and track and field. After graduation from Ballou High School in Washington, D.C., in 1970, he enlisted in the United States Army. Michael was stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington, and served 18 months in Vietnam and one year in Korea. He was highly decorated for his service, receiving the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and four Purple Hearts. In 1978, Michael left the service to attend The Pennsylvania State University, where he majored in secondary education. It was on the campus of Penn State Beaver that he first met Theresa Pudik 38 years ago this month. They were married on August 29, 1981. For 10 years, Michael and Theresa ran a wedding, portrait, and real estate photography business. He then obtained his paralegal certificate from Penn State Beaver in 1991 and worked for several companies as a paralegal and customer service representative until his retirement in 2010. Michael was a Life Member of the Ambridge District Sportsmen's Association, where he also previously served as a Director. In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by a son, Michael Christopher, of Plano, Texas; two brothers, James, of Idaho and Stephan, of Pennsylvania; his mother-in-law, Patricia Pudik, of Aliquippa; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janice and Clyde Davies, of Aliquippa. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred James, Jr. and John. Family and friends will gather, Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 12:00p.m. until 1:00p.m., at TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa, where the Beaver County Special Unit will conduct military honors, followed by a memorial service, with David Treadwell, Michael's former commanding officer, officiating. Private entombment will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA. In lieu of flowers, Theresa requests memorial contributions to the Michael Card Veteran Award at Penn State Beaver, 100 University Drive, Monaca, PA 15061. Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb
