STRUCK ROBERT THEODORE Passed away peacefully April 21, 2017. Bob was born April 26, 1921, in Harrisburg, PA, to Alice Clark Struck and Ferdinand Struck. He received his BS ('42), MS ('46) in Chemical Engineering, and his PhD in Fuel Technology ('50) from Penn State University. Bob worked as a project leader in the Department of Fuel Technology when he left school, and then worked 34 years for Consol. The majority of his time was spent working on the ability to commercially make gasoline from coal profitable. Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene; his brother, Jack; and his sister, Barbara. He is survived by his wife, Clara; sons, Paul and Jim (Trudy); grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Rohmann, Alan (Whitney), Lonnie (Kate), Heather TenBarge, Chad TenBarge, and Jourdan Struck; great-grandchildren include, Sydney and Nate Rohmann, Blake, Addison, Grayson, Emma, and Grace Struck, Harlow and Quentin TenBarge. Among Bob's many accomplishments were: Eagle Scout, developing a lubricant for the Norden bomb sight during WWII, 12 patents, and National Chairman of the American Chemical Society. Bob was a member of Beverly Heights UP Church in Mt. Lebanon for over 60 years, and a member of the choir for over 50 years. In addition to his love of music, he enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, baseball (Pirates) and football (Steelers). There will be visitation on Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 9–11:00 a.m. at the BEINHAUER & SON FUNERAL HOME, 2828 Washington Road, Peters Township, PA, followed by a memorial service at the funeral home and procession for the family to Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
