Beloved husband of the late Phyllis Rigos Mazza; loving father of Joseph (Regina), Michael (Jenevieve), Kelly Mazza, Nicole Fields (Greg), Christina Waterman (Edward) and Lisa Mazza; grandfather of Devin Mazza, Maximus Geyser, Carter Waterman, Kara Ramerez, Joseph, Anthony, and Brandon Mazza; brother of Donna Massung (Ron), Ann Marie Lavezoli (John), Valerie Downs (Mickey) and the late Marie Nolfi Jenkins; son of the late Dominic and Jean Narcoli Mazza; also survived by great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. KANIECKI ROBERT M. "BOB" Of Ross Twp., on Thursday, April 18, 2019. Bob served in the Army Air Force for four years. He studied languages at Syracuse University and was a Russian interpreter during the Korean War. He was awarded a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Rutgers University. He is survived by his wife, Jean, of nearly 60 years; three sons, Robert (Christine), James (Denise), Brian; and nine beautiful grandchildren who called him "Pop Pop"; and sister, Eileen (Brennan); and sister-in-law, Eileen (Janasik); and many nieces and nephews. He spent his career in the steel industry, which took him around the world, and rose to the rank of Vice President. He became an "honorary Irishman," traveling to Ireland 28 times. Bob belonged to several Irish organizations: Ancient Order of Hibernians, whose motto is "friendship, unity and Christian charity"; President of Conway Mill Trust, a non-profit group working to better the lives of people in the North of Ireland; Treasurer of Irish American Unity Conference, working for a peaceful and united Ireland. He served as Treasurer of Pittsburgh Ceili Club, which promotes Irish dance and culture, plus All Ireland Social Group and Gaelic Arts Society. Bob and Jean were honored by the Irish Echo newspaper as Community Champions for their work in the Irish community, and in 2009 he was honored to be an invited guest at the White House on St. Patrick's Day. Bob will be greatly missed by his family and many friends, but especially his wife. "The mystery of love is greater than the mystery of death." SCARLATELLI BARBARA (NEWHOUSE) Barbara (Newhouse) Scarlatelli, age 72, of Whitehall (formerly of McKeesport), passed away peacefully at home after a short illness on Tuesday, April 16, 2019. Beloved wife of the late Donald Scarlatelli and survived by her faithful companion dog, Penny; daughter of her late parents, Edwin and Elizabeth Newhouse. Barbara sold door-to-door encyclopedias from Maine to Maryland to Midwest for seven years. She taught herself to play the piano and the organ, then spread her joy of music to others by teaching for 42 years. Her hobbies were quilting, crocheting, and needlework. Barbara loved to share her knowledge and talents with others and was a member of the PA Music Educators Association (PMEA), the Quilters Guild and Quilters of America. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 22, 2019, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills. FERRARO MARY ROSE (DRAGISIC) A lifelong resident of Trafford, age 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Good Friday, April 19, 2019. Mary was born on November 8, 1925, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Stanesic) Dragisic, as well as sister of Frank Dragisic (deceased). Mary was a member of the St. Regis Church Trafford, a member of the Trafford Sr. Citizens, Young at Heart, and CFU Lodge #541 of Trafford. She took great pride in crocheting warm and cozy afghans for all her grandchildren and was also talented in creating ceramic decoration, especially for the Holidays. Her whole world was her family. Never had a bad word for anyone! She was a special gentle woman who gave so much to so many. She was the greatest baker and homemaker, loved Croatian Days at Kennywood and picnics at Millvale. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Frank P. Ferraro. Mary is survived by her children Janet (Matthew) Matesic of Wexford, Mary Margaret (Joseph) Hohman of Monroeville and Patty(Dave) Cannon of Murrsyville; her grandchildren, Jill Matesic (Tim Gilroy), Emily Matesic (Adam Rockman), Heather Ritter (David), Brian Hohman (Brooke), David Cannon and Claire Float (Joe); her great-grandchildren, Tommy, Matt and Timothy Gilroy, Troy Rockman, Easton, Ella and Everett Ritter, Bryn, Owen and Parker Hohman, Francesca and Jamisyn Float and numerous nieces and nephews. TICICH JOHN S. Age 80, of Moon Township, beloved husband, father, brother, grandpa, diado and friend, passed away on Saturday, April 20, ,2019. He was a man of quiet, gentle strength, deep humility, great faith and a warm caring soul. John was born October 9, 1938 in Weirton, WV. A son of the late Samuel and Pearl Ticich. After the family moved to Cleveland, he graduated from East High School and joined the U S Army. John earned a Bachelor's Degree in accounting from Kent State University and it was there that he met his wife of 53 years, Margie. He was employed by PPG Industries and moved his family to Pittsburgh, twice, Salisbury, NC, and Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela. John's great joy was tennis which he played until stricken with Parkinson's Disease. John was a man who didn't need much to be happy. He enjoyed their condo in Myrtle Beach, S.C., being with family and spending time with the grandchildren. His legacy of love will live on in all of us. John is survived by his wife, Margie; his children, Maureen (Jeff), Melanie (Phil) and Michelle (Paul); his brother, Dr. Steve (Lori) Ticich, brother-in-law, Edwin (Debra); his grandchildren, Sonise, Ani, Gregory, Chalinda, Evan, Aaron, Neissa, Vanessa, J.T., Phillip and Morgan. KEFALOS GUST G. Age 95, of Verona, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 21, 2019. Gust was born in Verona, but raised on the beautiful island of lkria, Greece. He is survived by his wife, Doris; and loving children, John and Magdaline; and sister, Barbara. He is now resting peacefully with his son, George; brothers, Stanley and Nick; and sisters, Kathleen and Mary. As a Veteran of WWII, Gust fought bravely for his country. He worked in various positions in Pittsburgh well into his 80's. Gust was known for his beautiful smile, kind heart and passionate stories. He will be missed by all who knew him. DEITT ROSE MARIE (GEORGE) Age 81, of Murrysville, passed away peacefully Monday, April 15, 2019, in Walden's View Senior Living, North Huntingdon. She was born July 22, 1937, in St. Mary's, WV, a daughter of the late Nelson and Glenola (Smith) George. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Dale, Bob and Larry; and sister Eve. Rose Marie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved spending time with her family, bird-watching and enjoying nature while porch-sitting. Rose Marie will be sadly missed by her son, Mark Deitt and his wife, Johnetta, of Apollo; daughter, Jennifer Coulter, of Irwin; sisters, Carol McHenry and Jo Ann Hartley (Art), all of the Pittsburgh area; and numerous nieces and nephews. She treasured her four grandchildren, April, Isaac, Naomi and Leah. Respecting Rose Marie's wishes, there will be no visitation. LIOTTA ANTHONY M. "TONY" Peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019, age 91, of Pittsburgh. His spirit went gracefully to Heaven in the presence of his family. Born December 26, 1927, Anthony was the beloved husband of 61 years of Marion Novak Liotta; loving father of Marian (John) Dezelan of Pine Township and the late Claudia Lynn Liotta; cherished grandfather of Alexa, Olivia and Jack Dezelan; also survived by many dear nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Antoinette (Navarra) Liotta; brothers, John Liotta and Joseph Liotta; and sister, Mary (Liotta) Ferrari. Anthony was a proud US Army veteran. CURRY WILLIAM A., JR. Of Penn Hills, passed away quietly on April 20, 2019. He was 92 years old. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Amelia (Day); fraternal twin brother, Robert; sister, Kathleen; and brother, Richard. Bill was a World War II veteran and joined the Rockets Drum & Bugle Corp after discharge. In 1951, he married Florence M. Price, the love of his life. He had a successful career in the printing business. He was a gentle, witty, kind man who took pleasure in spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a devout Catholic who lived his life guided by his faith. He is survived by his wife and their seven children, Mary (Wayne) Edwards, Susan Cuiffi, William, Linda (Michael) Ralph, Margaret (Scott) Heintzleman, Catherine (David) Burkardt and Patricia Curry (Maurice Rickard). He is lovingly remembered by 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation at the CHARLES TRENZ FUNERAL HOME, in Penn Hills, PA on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Bartholomew Church, Penn Hills, on April 24, 2019, at 9:30. Interment will be at the Good Shepherd Cemetery in Monroeville, PA. A special thank you to the Pittsburgh East Hospice Group staff and the staff and nurses at Brookdale Murrysville. GRANDSTAFF LINDA (HILLEGAS) Age 68, of Bethel Park, formerly of Brentwood, passed away surrounded by her loving family on April 18, 2019. Adored wife of 47 years and best friend to Richard Grandstaff; loving sibling to Donna Smith, Marlene Vatter (Pete Srinivasan), Amy Zgorliski (John), Kim Gillespie (Bob), Bonnie Blaxter (Vaughan); and had many loving nieces, nephews and in-laws. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Evelyn Hillegas; and siblings, Renee Perozich and Mark Hillegas (Vera). Linda was an author, poet, and a passionate educator, Dean of Students at the Gateway Technical Institute. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from The University of Pittsburgh and a Master's Degree from Penn State University. Linda was a wonderful and devoted friend who will be missed by many. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills 15236.
