She was preceded in death by her husband, David D. King, owner and operator of King's ARCO, Baldwin, PA, her parents and sister. Survivors include her four children, Christina R. Dimpel of Memphis, TN, Susan L. Amrhein of Bethel Park, PA, David C. King of Bethel Park, PA and Jeffrey A. King of Castle Shannon, PA; seven grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren. Joan is survived by her siblings, Thaddeus “Sonny” (Carol), Claudia (Frank) Downie, Maryann “Mini” (Thomas) Wood, Cynthia (Russell) Pietrzak and Bernadette Shaffer; adoring ciocia to thirteen nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and nephews. She was an employee of the Mead Corporation (Chatfield and Woods/Zellerbach) for over 40 years, working her way up from a mail clerk to an executive assistant receiving the Northern Area President's Quality Award in 1992. He enjoyed spending time at his family cabin in Somerset County. He also enjoyed being with his friends at Harvey's in West Mifflin. POTTS EDWARD S. Age 93, on Saturday, January 2, 2016. Born February 8, 1922, in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Emily (Forker) and Isaac Potts. He served in the US Navy as a submarine operator specializing in radar during WWII. He worked as a printer. After he retired from this profession, he volunteered at the veterans facility at Highland Park and was an activities assistant. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Glenshaw. He is survived by his daughters, Rose Ann Potts and Susan (Ron) Dorski; and his sons, Edward J. Potts and Robert J. (Heather) Potts; son-in-law, Dennis Springer; as well as sisters, Jane Heinze, Helen (Norm) Felsenthal and Rachel (George) Hysong; and sister-in-law, Dolores Potts; also many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary (Schneider) Potts; his daughter, Debra Springer; his brothers, Robert Potts and James Potts; and sisters, Grace Holland, Mary Ellen Rooney and a sister who died in infancy. A special thanks goes to the staff of St. Mary's Courtyard in Sharpsburg and the VA Adult Day Care in Aspinwall where he spent the last five years. Also a special thanks to the staff of the VA Hospice Unit in Aspinwall for their loving care in his last days. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-8 p.m. at the BOCK FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 1500 Mt. MOEBS NOEL N. Age 90, husband of Marjorie Hall Moebs; father of Linda Moebs of Grantsville, MD and Norman Dana Moebs of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Also survived by two grandchildren, Daniel Moebs of Richmond, VA and Bethany Moebs of Greenville, SC. Mr. Moebs was born in Washington, DC, served in Europe during World War II as an observer with the 294th Field Artillery during the Battle of the Bulge. The 294th was moved to the front after Battery B of the 285th Field Artillery Observation Battalion was wiped out near Malmedy, Belgium, by a unit of Jochen Peiper's Panzer Regiment. The 294th was then advanced to the Elbe River line and ended up in Lubeck on the Baltic Sea. He was a graduate of West Virginia University, was employed as a geologist by Bethlehem Steel Corp., The New Jersey Zinc Company, and retired from the US Bureau of Mines in Bruceton, PA. He was author of over 24 research publications on mining geology. Mr. Moebs received an award for the stewardship of public lands in 1990 and an award for meritorious service from the US Department of the Interior for Mining Research in 1991. He was a member of the American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers and an Elder in the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church. He served on the board of the Pleasant Hills Arboretum, the Oliver Miller Homestead Associates in South Park and the Braddock Road Preservation Association in Jumonville. Mr. Moebs was an avid collector of antique American glass and furniture and a dedicated reader of American history. Family and friends will gather for visitation on Saturday, January 9, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. and on Sunday, January 10, 2016, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the celebration of life service at 2:00 p.m. at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills, PA 15236.
