DICKSON JAMES S. Age 95, of McCandless, went to be with his Lord on May 11, 2017. Jim, known for his positive attitude, is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Dorothy (Wagner) Dickson; daughters, Deborah (Timothy) Dutrow, Barbara (Bill) Bain; as well as four grandchildren, Megan (Jim) Heistand, Brian (Laura) Bain, Drew Dutrow and Kate (Mark) Gray; and seven great- grandchildren. Born and raised in Ross Township, son of Russell and Margaret Dickson and brother to Robert, Jim was a man of great character and integrity who lived life to the fullest. He was a WWII Navy pilot and flight instructor. Jim received his teaching degree from the State Teacher's College at California, PA and his Master's of Education from The University of Pittsburgh. He held various teaching, coaching and principal positions retiring after 41 years of service for the Pittsburgh Public Schools. In addition to his many hobbies, Jim cherished spending time with his family and serving the Lord he loved. He and Dorothy were active members of Northmont United Presbyterian Church. His professional and personal life impacted countless lives. FLINN GERTRUDE ELAINE Born November 13, 1928, in New Kensington, PA to parents Charles and Catherine Myers. Elaine died in Fort Myers, Florida on Thursday, January 12, 2017. She was the third of four sisters, Ruth, Helen, Gertrude Elaine, and Janet. Elaine attended New Kensington schools and Grove City College, finishing her formal education there in 1949. At Grove City, Elaine met Richard Flinn, whom she married in 1951. They settled in Pittsburgh's Shadyside district. Elaine worked at The Mellon Institute while Richard attended the University of Pittsburgh. In 1956, Elaine, Richard, and their four children settled in the Crescent Hills section of Pittsburgh and were early members of the then-new Penn Hills Presbyterian Church. In subsequent years, the family lived in Allentown, PA, Columbus, OH, and Denver, CO, before returning to Pittsburgh in 1983 and settling in the Fox Chapel area. Elaine was active in the Church in these various locations, and in Pittsburgh she was an active member of the Guyasuta Garden Club, the PEO, Twentieth Century Club, the Pittsburgh Symphony Society, and the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11a.m. at the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, 384 Fox Chapel Rd. KEPPEL JOSEPH W., Jr. A dedicated family man, wonderful husband, father and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly at Heritage Valley Sewickley on Monday, May 15, 2017, at the age of 81. Born in Coraopolis on September 1, 1935, son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Labuda) Keppel, Sr., he was a lifelong resident of Moon Township graduating from Moon High School in 1953. After his enlistment in the US Army, Joe went on to obtain his BS in Business from St. Vincent College in 1960. Along with his father, he formed Joseph Keppel and Son Insurance Agency, still located in Moon Township and now a third generation family business. Joe and his father, receiving their insurance licenses at the same time, ran their business the old-fashioned way, knowing their clients and visiting them door to door. Joe, a man of strong faith and community, was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church, President of SW Multi List and former President of the Moon Township Rotary Club. Joe enjoyed life; an avid outdoorsman, fly fisherman, bird watcher, nature lover, he and his wife traveled the country in their motor home during their retirement. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a man described as Larger than life. Beloved husband for 57 years (known as sweetie pie) to Stephanie (Fronek) Keppel; fondly called Big Daddy Joe Bob and loving father of Elizabeth Cook (Jason), Karen Myros (Timothy), Andy Keppel (Kathy) and the late Karl J. Keppel (surviving spouse Sandy); cherished Pop Pop to Kaitlyn Myros, Karly Keppel-Webb (Andrew), Javan and Joseph Joey Cook, Abby, Max and Chloe Keppel and the late Paul Myros; beloved brother of Carol Ann Keppel of San Diego, CA.
