Following her formal retirement, Kathy continued to influence young nursing professionals as an instructor at CCAC. Philanthropically, Kathy served on the board of the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation and socially functioned as an officer of the West Penn Alumni Group and as the group's Christmas Master of Ceremonies. JOYCE PATRICK and BEVERLY BEV (HRINDA) Age 69, passed away surrounded by loved ones on August 12, 2017, in Jacksonville, FL after a year-long fight with cancer. She took on the disease with a strong like bull mentality and stayed positive and hopeful until the very end. Beverly was born June 10, 1948, in Pittsburgh to Helen (Michak) Hrinda and Michael Hrinda. Beverly loved cooking for family, her book club divas, trivia nights, and hosting Labor day parties. Bev, and her husband, Patrick, loved their eight grandchildren more than anything else. Fittingly, the last word that Beverly spoke was love. Beverly is survived by her daughter, Cherie (Brian) Atwood; her son, Shayne (Erin) Joyce; brother, Richard Hrinda; her sister, Joannie (Gary) Meissner; eight grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Hrinda. Patrick "Pat" Joyce passed soon after his wife, on August 31, 2017, in Jacksonville, FL. Pat's death was caused by pulmonary complications that were brought on by a broken heart and a need to be near his wife of nearly 50 years. Patrick was born in Pittsburgh on February 11, 1946, to Martha (Palmer) Joyce and Patrick Joyce, Sr. Pat loved shooting pool, beautiful golf courses, and storytelling about the old days. Patrick is survived by his brother, Bob (Ellie) Gardner; and sister, Maureen Price. He was preceded in death by sisters, Patricia Howatneck and Margaret Joyce. VRANESEVIC ANN Formerly a resident of Duquesne and North Huntingdon, Ann died on September 12, 2017, at St. Anne's Home, Greensburg, PA. She celebrated her 100th birthday on July 2, 2017, and was born the fifth of ten children in Yukon to Petar and Milka Cheran. On July 6, 1941, she married the late Joseph Vranesevic and they were blessed with four children, Joanne Pilipovich (George) of North Huntingdon, Melissa Snelling (Jeffrey) of Penn Township, Paul (Cathy) of Jersey City, NJ, and Michael (Clare) of Irwin. She was an active member of the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church of Mckeesport/Duquesne where she belonged to the Kolo Srpskih Sestara (Serbian Sisters) and Mother's Club. For many years, she baked the naphora (bread) for Sunday liturgies and was gifted in the preparation of ethnic baked goods and meals. She dearly loved her nine grandchildren, Stephanie Young, Sharon (Mark) Watson, Robert and Samantha Crawford, Zachary Snelling and Annemarie, Louise, Caroline and Adam Vranesevic; and six great- grandchildren, Zachary, Abigail and Jacob Young; and Alyssa, Dane and Mia Watson. Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, Steve, Roy, Michael, and Alex; and sisters, Martha, Sarah, Dorothy, Mildred and Zora. Ann loved her faith and was forever grateful for all God's blessings of good health of all her family. She was an excellent role model of faith, love, and goodness throughout her life and she will be missed by everyone who knew her. The family thanks the nurses, aides, and all personnel at the St. Anne Home for their excellent care she received there over the past four years.
