WOJTON TIMOTHY G. AGE 67, PASS...
WOJTON TIMOTHY G. Age 67, passed away while on vacation in Hilton Head Island, SC, on Monday evening, September 18, 2017. Tim was born in McKeesport, PA on October 31, 1949, to his late mother, Gertrude (Borkowski) Wojton, and Walter G. Wojton. Walter Wojton still resides in Tim's childhood home and turns 100-years old on Thursday, September 21, 2017. Tim attended St. Mary Czestochowa Elementary School and graduated from McKeesport High School in 1967. He was the President of his senior high school class and President of the McKeesport High School Speech Club. In fact, he won several awards and state-wide competitions for extemporaneous speaking and debate skill. Tim enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh, where he majored in economics and learned to speak fluent German. After graduating in 1971, Tim was drafted by the U.S. Army and, coincidentally, stationed in Germany for two years. His fluency in German greatly assisted Tim and his fellow vets in exploring the German countryside and pursuing adventure. Upon his return to the States, Tim enrolled in the University of Akron School of Law. Tim earned his law degree in 1976 and launched a solo practice in the South Hills of Pittsburgh in the early 1980s. His family, friends and colleagues knew Tim to have a golden tongue and an extraordinary gift for public speaking, storytelling and working a room. These talents aided Tim greatly as he pursued what ultimately became a successful and illustrious legal career. Although he was a general practitioner, Tim was first and foremost a litigator, and he relished the opportunity to get in the ring and connect emotionally with a jury. Later in life, Tim had the unique pleasure of working alongside his son, Timothy Grant Wojton, who also earned a law degree and joined him in what became known as the small firm of Wojton & Wojton. Tim and his son participated in several trials together. Tim was also incredibly proud of his daughter, Emily Young, who is pursuing a nursing degree and is currently excelling. Tim was a voracious reader and few things made him happier than waking early and enjoying a good book or newspaper over a fresh cup of coffee. Tim also took great pride and pleasure in hosting get-togethers, parties and special occasions for friends and family. Above all of these things, it was spending time with his young grandchildren that truly brought him the most joy. He was the consummate family man, entertainer, and counselor, and he will be dearly missed. Tim resided in Whitehall, PA with his wife, Cara (Hizer) Wojton. He is survived by Cara and his two children: Timothy Grant Wojton (Magdalena Wojton) and Emily Wojton Young (Adam Young), whom he raised with his former wife, Margaret (Pagnotto) Wojton. Tim is also survived by his four grandchildren: Gabriella Young (3-years old), Sienna Young (23 months), Grant Wojton (20 months), and Natalia Wojton (4 months); his father, Walter G. Wojton, and his brothers and sisters: Cathe B. Livingston, Marian C. Huff (Roger Huff), Walter G. Wojton, Jr. and William P. Wojton. Tim is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as two stepchildren and four step-grandchildren. There will be no formal viewing. However, friends, colleagues and loved ones are welcome and encouraged to attend a Funeral Mass for Tim at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017, at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish at 1 Grove Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. DE GUZMAN DOROTHY C. SALLY (...
de GUZMAN DOROTHY C. SALLY (CHILDS) Age 91, of Charlotte, NC, died Friday, September 15, 2017, after living a full life as a loving mother, wife and friend to many. She is survived by her three children, R. Scott de Guzman of Charlotte, NC, C. Blair (Cheryl Caggiano) de Guzman of Monroe, CT, Anne Childs de Guzman of Raleigh, NC; and three grandchildren, Christopher Craig de Guzman, Olivia Childs Busby and Colin Patrick Busby. Dorothy was born on June 30, 1926, in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Harvey and Laura Mabon Childs. She was a devoted mother, wife, daughter and sister to all those who loved her. A big fan of her local Pittsburg Pirates, she would attend as many of their games in the afternoons after school as she could. Being educated early on at the Ellis School in Pittsburgh, she attended Miss Porter's School in Farmington, CT and then Bennett Jr. College in Millbrook, NY, now closed. Her desire for learning reached into the secretarial field where she first worked at NBC Studios in New York and later for Bristol-Myers, also in New York. Having made a home and career in New York, she met her future husband, the late Robert Vincent de Guzman while passing each other on the way to work each morning. Once married, they started to raise a family in New York giving birth to their two sons, Scott and Blair. Later on, after having moved to Cos Cob, CT her third child, Anne, was born. Sally worked a number of jobs including retail sales and management, a stint in the real estate field and later helping people create memorable wedding, birthday, anniversary and other celebrated event invitations that became one of her most cherished talents. But above all, she was a devoted and loving mother. Her immediate and extended family meant the world to her. She loved to cook, trying out new recipes, for her children and guests that became household favorites. The one favorite was her marinated shrimp she made annually for their New Year's Day party. It was not until many years later, that her greatest Christmas gift to her children, a scrapbook with pages of favorite recipes, did the ingredients of that cherished marinated shrimp dish get revealed. And to this day, those recipes are still used to remember what a great cook and mother she was. Sally was an avid golfer, often challenging the best of the best at her favorite summer course, the Norfolk Country Club, in Norfolk, CT, where her children learned to play as well. Her favorite breed of dog, the Norfolk Terrier kept her company from childhood until late in life. She used to be seen riding her bike in Hilton Head, SC with her dog Brooks in the basket on the handlebars, where she and her late husband, Bob retired. She attended Episcopalian churches throughout her life, ending her worship with volunteer work at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Hilton Head. Burial services and a private ceremony will be in Norfolk, CT in the summer of 2018. We ask that any donations go to your local Alzheimer's Association. Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb
