HILTON JOAN M. Age 93, died peacefully and surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Longwood Assisted Living Facility, Oakmont. Joan was born December 16, 1924, in Pulaski, New York, the daughter of Joan and William Mather. Joan taught high school English until marrying Graemer Guy K. Hilton of Altamont, New York in 1948. They moved to Schenectedy, NY, where Guy worked for General Electric. They also lived in Hendersonville, NC and Lewistown, PA, before moving to Pittsburgh in 1975. The focus of Joan's life was her family. She raised four children, and was engaged in all of their activities, as well as supporting Guy in his business career. A person of deep faith, she was a member of St. Scholastica Catholic Church, Aspinwall, and an active volunteer. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Guy; and sister, Kay. She is survived by her sister, Anne (Chuck) Russell; sons, Tom (DeaDea) Hilton of Portland, OR, John (Robin) Hilton of State College, Pete (Sandi) Hilton of Pittsburgh; and daughter, Kathy (Jim) DiBiasi of Hoboken, NJ; Joan has four grandsons, Mike (Jamie) Hilton, Matt Hilton, Pat Hilton, and James DiBiasi; two granddaughters, Joanie (Chris) Hayek and Amy Hilton; and one great-grandson, Rhett Hilton. No Visitation. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Scholastica Church, 309 Brilliant Ave., Aspinwall. HOFFMAN MARGARET ANN REESE Quietly, on Sunday, August 19, 2018, Margaret Ann Reese Hoffman, formerly of Braddock, entered life eternal. She was born on Tuesday, January 5, 1937, in Braddock to the late John Morgan Mocky and Hilda Schweinberg Reese. She married the love of her life, Charles A. Hoffman on August 8, 1959 in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church Braddock. He died on July 21, 1983. Together they had 6 children, Charles Chuckie (Karen Yahner) Hoffman of Wellsburg, West Virginia, Phyllis (Terry) Lowery of North Huntingdon, Robert Bobby (Valerie D'Alessandro) Hoffman of Harrison City, Joanne (Jim) Stinson, of Houston, Texas, and Judy (Brett) Melisko of Belle Vernon; an infant son, James died at birth; grandchildren; Justin (Danielle) Lowery, Kelly (Richard) Svesnik, Alexis, Kristin, Charlie, Violet Hoffman, Samantha and, Matt Stinson, Rachael Pluebell, Sarah, Emily, Josh, and Hannah Melisko; and great-grandchildren, Remy, Devan, Olivia and Mylee. Maggie as she was affectionately known was a graduate of Saint Joseph Catholic School in Braddock, and Saint Thomas High School, Class of 1954. She was the cafeteria manager of the former Saint Brendan Grade School in Braddock and a former employee of the Braddock Medical Center. ELLIS MARY JANE (MENK) Passed away on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018 at the age of 97. She survived her two husbands, Wayne David Carson, who was killed in action in WWII, and Edwin F. Ellis, the father of her eight children, who died in 1972. The beloved matriarch of her family is survived by her eight children, Kathy Kinzeler (Bill), Bill Ellis (Debbie), Bud Ellis (Sherry), Mary Ann Hughes (Mike), Janie Piemonte (Mike), Mary Lou Bradley (Rich), Peggy Liwosz (Dan), and Greg Ellis (Susan); 27 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Mary Jane was a graduate of Mt. Mercy College in Pittsburgh. During her lifetime, Mary Jane was a member of the Christian Mothers at SS. Simon and Jude, made hundreds of rosaries for the poor, volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Carnegie, and knitted caps for infants in the NICU and for women undergoing chemo therapy. Mary Jane loved her iPad and utilized Facebook to keep tabs on the 90+ members of her family. MILAS STEPHEN "STEVE" Age 90, of New Eagle and formerly of South Park, passed away on Aug. 19, 2018 in Jefferson Hospital. Born May 26, 1928 in Broughton, he was a son of the late Stephen and Anna (Karin) Milas; Steve was preceded in death by his brothers, Anthony, Marty (Kitty), and Michael (Eva) Milas; sisters, Mary (Leonard) Romano and Rose (Ettore) Ginestra; and in-laws, Joseph DiFrancesco, Glen and Elvira Williams, Fritz Bartolini, Andy Sakas, and Arthur DiFrancesco. He was a graduate of Clairton High School, then attained his Bachelor's degree in accounting from Duquesne University. He was a Korean War veteran, stationed in Germany in the US Army's 2nd Armored Division. As a young man, he and his brothers owned and operated Milas Brothers Beer Distributor in Clairton, then went on to work with the US Treasury Department until his retirement. Throughout his life, Steve was an avid golfer and sports fan. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Norma (DiFrancesco) Milas; his sisters-in-law, Anna Milas, Thelma Bartolini, Rose Sakas, and Linda DiFrancesco; Steve is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
