HOOVER AIMEE SUE AGE 44, OF PI...
HOOVER AIMEE SUE Age 44, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Dover, PA, tragically and unexpectedly passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, due to a medical incident while snorkeling. She was on vacation in Crescent Beach Siesta Key, FL, with her husband, Steve Hoover, of Pittsburgh, PA. Aimee was doing one of her favorite things in the world at the time snorkeling and swimming in the ocean and repeatedly mentioned what a wonderful, perfect day she was having prior to the incident; there was no other place she would have rather been at the time. The daughter of Darlene M. (Staub) Kann and the late Donald E. Kann, Aimee was born February 10, 1973. Aimee was raised in Dover, PA, where she and her husband met in high school, started dating in 1991, and fell madly, deeply in love. It was a love that grew stronger and more vibrant throughout her unfairly short life, and will continue on after her passing. While Aimee left us way too soon, she lived an active, giving life overflowing with more love and fun than many do in a full lifetime. During their 26 years of marriage, she spent her time doing the things she most enjoyed and treasured. An avid outdoor enthusiast, she loved to hike, camp, kayak, swim, and birdwatch with her husband and friends. She was a supporter of the Arts and enjoyed taking advantage of downtown activities such as symphonies, musicals, operas, and concerts, museums and National Aviary, sporting events, etc. Over the years, Aimee spent time involved in various community events aligned with social groups and causes with like-minded friends. She was a career civil servant, helping those who often needed it most. When not out, Aimee read, crocheted gifts for friends and family, and played with her kitties and puppy. But, what was most important to her was simply being with her husband and loved ones, whether on one of their frequent vacations to the mountains or beach, or just enjoying their time together at home. Aimee is survived by her husband; partner and close family friend, Loretta Longo, Cleveland, OH; five goofy cats and one big, loyal dog; her mother; and three siblings, Donald A. Kann, Homer, AK, Catherine Ingham, Columbia Falls, MT, and Melissa Kann, Dover, PA. Aimee was a beacon of compassion, kindness, and love to all who knew her. The world will be a much lonelier, sadder, and dimmer place without her light to help fill it. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Sunday, May 21, 2017, in Penn Forest Natural Burial Park, 121 Colorado Street, Verona, PA, 15147. As services will be graveside in a forest area, casual clothes and sneakers/hiking shoes recommended; bright, spring-colored tops encouraged. Family and friends will be received after the service. Professional Services by D'ALESSANDRO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY LTD., Lawrenceville. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial donations be made to the World Wildlife Fund: gifts.worldwildlife. org/Gift-Center, the Sierra Club: www.sierraclub.org, the ACLU: action.aclu.org/donate, or a no-kill pet shelter of your choice. www.dalessandroltd.com Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb
